How Much MacBook Air Can You Get for $800?

In order to compete with PC manufacturers selling inexpensive Windows ultrabooks, Apple is primed to release a lower-priced, $800 MacBook Air in Q3 -- immediately begging the question, 'What will you actually get for your low cost of entry?'

Spotify Plays Can Increase iTunes Sales. Here?s Proof!

Spotify Drives iTunes SalesDespite fears that streaming access cannibalizes sales, classical music record label X5?tells me when it launched an app within Spotify and saw streams of one album increase 412% in a month, that album's iTunes sales shot up 50%. The Swedish label's "The 50 Greatest Pieces of Classical Music" soon reached #1 on the iTunes Classical charts, and broke into the iTunes Top 200 album charts for the first time, hitting #152. The stats back up claims by some record labels and Spotify's CEO Daniel Ek that there's no evidence of Spotify or other streaming services negatively impacting music sales. More data like this could encourage artists and labels to promote their streaming music presences, and push acts like The Black Keys and Paul McCartney who've pulled their catalogues from Spotify to come back.

Screen Grabs: Are agents on Fringe flashing their Google Wallet?

Screen Grabs chronicles the uses (and misuses) of real-world gadgets in today's movies and TV. Send in your sightings (with screen grab!) to screengrabs at engadget dot com.

Screen Grabs: Are agents on Fringe flashing their Google Wallet?

We're not sure exactly what the FBI's standard issue kit consists of, but we imagine it has more than a few bits of secret tech. These screen grabs from this week's Fringe, however, would have us believe that the rogue agents like to pick up their tabs with what looks like Google Wallet. We can clearly see a Sprint-branded Galaxy Nexus being used to for a not-so-undercover financial transaction. At least it looks like the agents might have had an upgrade since we last saw them around these parts.

[Thanks, Te-je]

Emily VanCamp Covers Lucky, Hates Stoners

Beautiful Revenge star Emily VanCamp covers the new issue of Lucky ... but don't even think about getting lucky with her if you're some lazy dude.

"I'll tell you one thing I don't want [in a man]," the actress says in the June issue. "A guy who sits around and plays video games and smokes pot."

VanCamp does reveal she's attracted to a paternal kind of guy.

"I think women look for that quality in a man of being a good dad whether they're immediately wanting to be a parent or not," the 25-year-old says.

"It's important to me that a man is good at taking care of people."

If any non-stoner, potential dads-of-the-year are interested, they should know that VanCamp is unwittingly becoming a celebrity gossip stable.

"It's so great to have all this stuff happen to you," she says of her success.

"But to all of a sudden have photographers snapping photos of you, it's a big change. You know, I see pictures of myself I had no idea were being taken. I'm generally very aware of what's going on around me. I really don't know where they hide."
