T-Mobile highlights upcoming Ice Cream Sandwich updates for the HTC Amaze 4G and HTC Sensation, offers no release dates

With Ice Cream Sandwich slowly making it's presence known around the world on various device, T-Mobile has now gone ahead and presented some information for HTC Amaze 4G and HTC Sensation owners. The support documents for both devices have just been updated to let everyone know a forthcoming Ice Cream Sandwich update will eventually be available for both.

HTC has said all of this in the past so it's not as if any big secret was revealed, though it is nice to see T-Mobile getting things in order. Sadly, they forgot to mention any dates for release but as noted above, have advised the documents will be updated accordingly when things get closer.

Many accidents can be avoided by simply following a company?s safety procedures. There are many things that might not be considered when thinking about safety. For example, keeping your workplace clean, and free of debris. If objects or spills are left around the work environment, anyone may trip or slip on them. Debris can also end up on or inside machinery and damage equipment. Knowledge of your surroundings can also keep the workplace safe. Know where the nearest fire extinguishers are, and where the emergency kill switch for your machinery is located, as well as emergency exits, and first-aid kits.

Improper attire can also be a safety hazard if not appropriate. Neckties are taboo and long hair should be picked up in a pony tail or tucked in your shirt. Loose long sleeves can get tangled with machinery. Protection for eyes, ears, and head is imperative while in the factory environment.

In intrinsically safe (IS) environments, any electronic components that enter the area must be certified as IS. An item can be deemed as IS when its potential electrical and/or thermal energy is low enough that, within a hazardous atmosphere, ignition will not take place. Cell phones, digital cameras and MP3 players are not intrinsically safe and can be hazardous in explosive atmospheres. If working in an intrinsically safe environment, follow your company?s safety guidelines for a better, safer workplace.

Awareness and communication are also important when it comes to safety. Warning your coworkers when they are violating safety procedures can avoid many accidents. It is good practice to advise those around when a machine is being turned on, or when hazardous materials have been exposed. Always obey all safety regulations. They are in place for our own benefit, not just the company?s.

FDA: tobacco companies must report chemicals

WASHINGTON (AP) ? Tobacco companies will be required to report the levels of dangerous chemicals found in cigarettes, chew and other products under the latest rules designed to tighten regulation of the tobacco industry.

The preliminary guidance issued Friday by the Food and Drug Administration marks the first time tobacco makers will be required to report quantities of 20 chemicals associated with cancer, lung disease and other health problems. The FDA will require companies to display the information in a consumer-friendly format by next April.

Constituents or byproducts of tobacco products that are subject to the new rule include ammonia, carbon monoxide and formaldehyde.

Regulators have identified more than 93 harmful or potentially harmful chemicals in tobacco products, though the agency is only focusing on 20 for the coming year. The agency will take comments on the guidance until June 4, before finalizing them.

A law enacted in 2009 gave the FDA authority to regulate a number of aspects of tobacco marketing and manufacturing, though the agency cannot ban nicotine. The same law lets the agency approve ones that could be marketed as safer than what's currently for sale.

In separate guidance issued Friday, the FDA laid out the scientific studies it will require before any company can market a so-called modified-risk tobacco product. Companies must submit extensive testing data on health risks, user behavior and consumer understanding of marketing materials for new products.

"The law sets a high standard to make sure that tobacco products marketed to reduce risk actually reduce risk," Dr. Lawrence Deyton, director of FDA's tobacco center, told reporters on a conference call.

The FDA's handling of modified-risk products has been highly anticipated by both the public health community and bigger tobacco companies, which are looking for new products to sell as they face declining cigarette demand due to tax increases, health concerns, smoking bans and social stigma.

Some tobacco companies have alternatives like snus ? small pouches like tea bags that users stick between the cheek and gum ? and dissolving tobacco ? finely milled tobacco shaped into orbs, sticks and strips. But they are not explicitly marketed as less risky than cigarettes.

Industry experts expect it will take the FDA a year or more to review applications for modified risk products.
